The Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement uses state-of-the-art teleconferencing to provide hands-on surgical instruction to medical professionals. Teleconferencing technology connects the center’s three main components, the surgical learning laboratory, education center and operating room, with any outside venue around the world. The Education Center is designed for symposiums, educational workshops, conferences and seminars of up to 150 in-house participants.
Flexibility in designing the interior spaces and the systems that serve them was a major consideration to accommodate the varied activities within the Center. The efficient mechanical system includes two new variable volume air handling units with variable frequency drives. Photocell controls maintain the outdoor lighting and selected interior lighting in public areas where natural lighting is available.
