A marriage of sustainable design and state-of-the-art technology, the Darden Restaurant Support Center is the largest LEED NC Gold building in Florida to date. The building has numerous common areas and an open floor plan to encourage camaraderie and creativity. There are more than 30 high-tech conference rooms, a training center, test kitchens, tasting facilities, an employee cafeteria, a fitness center and a broadcast studio.
Sustainability, flexibility and economy were key design goals, which were met in large part through open communications with the owner and other members of the project team. TLC also provided energy-modeling services. Among the sustainable design features are carbon dioxide monitoring, light pollution reduction and daylight harvesting. The TLC-designed audio-visual system is integrated into the corporate local area network and managed locally by on-site personnel.
