The school accommodates 800 students from Pre-K through fourth grade in state-of-the-art classrooms that support distance learning. The school provides general purpose classrooms, specialized classrooms for art, and music and computer instruction. There is also a gymnasium, multipurpose room with a stage that also serves as the cafeteria, kitchen, information center, administrative offices, teacher workrooms and a video production studio.
Extensive energy modeling used early in design helped minimize the energy budget. Life cycle cost analysis led to the selection of air-cooled chillers as the most efficient solution. The design is predicted to achieve an energy reduction of 49%, earning 19 LEED points towards certification. A rooftop solar photovoltaic system provides 5% of the school’s predicted annual electrical demand.
