Overview

New four-story, 68,000-SF performing arts center and cultural campus is built on the site of the former Bethlehem Steel—the largest privately-owned brownfield in the country. Center includes:
• Main performance venue, Musikfest Café, an intimate concert venue for amplified cabaret style music seating 530. No seat is more than 60 feet from the stage, and all seats view the illuminated historic Blast Furnaces directly across from the building.
• A 4,000-SF community conference room
• A two-screen art cinema
• A commons area

Acoustic challenges entailed helping shape the performance spaces to reflect the architectural aesthetic that ties with the site’s industrial heritage while also achieving an intimate performance space. The result is a unique visitor experience that celebrates the heritage of industrialism and revitalizing the spirit of work and play for discerning modern audiences.

The Centre is part of an ArtsQuest development to transform a brownfield site to a 21st century town square where history, culture, education and the arts intersect with technology and celebration.
