Overview

In a four-year, the RTP Center was enhanced by renovation of 91,000 SF of existing space and the addition of 72,000 SF of new space. New or refreshed spaces include a multipurpose instrumental rehearsal/performance space (The Frances Bedford Concert Hall), a black box theatre, music and theatre rehearsal/acting classrooms, an art lab, music practice rooms, and faculty teaching studios.

The large volume above the ceilings and catwalks in the Concert Hall helps provide a strong natural acoustical environment for both large and small music groups. Adjustable acoustic curtains that allow the space to be altered to accommodate a variety of performance types and genres, combined with quiet mechanical systems, make the new Rita Tallent Picken Center a place where the connection between performer and audience will be celebrated for years to come.
