TLC Engineering Solutions (TLC), a national engineering and professional services consulting firm, announced its acquisition of Acoustic Distinctions (AD), a highly respected acoustics and A/V system specialty consulting firm with over 30 years of proven success. This strategic action significantly broadens TLC’s acoustics and A/V capabilities and geographic reach, while enhancing its ability to deliver comprehensive services to valued clients across each of TLC’s core markets.

As part of this integration, TLC will establish new office locations in New York, NY, and Stamford, CT. Additionally, AD’s existing operations in Los Angeles, CA, and Lancaster, PA, will be seamlessly consolidated into TLC’s current operational framework, further optimizing our national presence and service delivery.

Acoustic Distinctions, founded by David W. Kahn in 1991, brings extensive experience, technical proficiency, academic rigor, and a wide client network.  AD’s broad sector experience meshes with TLC’s multi-market practice, while AD’s specialization in the design and optimization of acoustics for performing arts spaces will further elevate TLC’s capabilities in this specialty market.

Michael Sheerin, CEO of TLC Engineering Solutions, commented on the acquisition: “We are thrilled to welcome Acoustic Distinctions to TLC. The AD team enhances our acoustics bench, providing our clients with an even deeper level of expertise and capability across all the markets we serve. They have a well-earned reputation within the industry, and their national presence aligns perfectly with TLC’s vision for the future.”

This move will also enhance the capabilities and services that Acoustic Distinctions can provide its long-time clients. By joining TLC, AD’s clients will benefit from a more streamlined and coordinated project experience, access to a broader range of subject matter experts across multiple engineering disciplines, and the resources of a national firm.

We’re excited to join TLC, as this partnership allows us to further grow in our core markets and deliver high-performance acoustical solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients and the communities we support” stated David W. Kahn, LEED AP, Principal and Founder, Acoustic Distinctions.  “We see great opportunities for our staff sharing their expertise,” added Paul Sawyer, Chief Information Officer, Acoustic Distinctions.
