Overview

TLC’s experience in Tropical Sustainable Design was a key factor in being selected to provide sustainability, engineering and energy consulting for a new confidential project on the Pacific Coast in Southern Mexico. The project is a collection of buildings on a 100-acre site that vary in usage from residential, retail, restaurant, and other amenity type space. The developer’s commitment to the environment requires sustainability to be a driving factor in decision making for the project.

Features

Health and wellness goals have influenced the lighting selection (daylight and circadian), air and water filtration systems. Energy efficiency is achieved by reducing solar radiation heat at each building through a combination of shade and high-performance glazing. HVAC condensate, which is continuous year-round, is used to help flush the sewer system lines and improve the performance of the waste facility grinders. TLC has recommended a biofuel driven cogeneration plant as an efficient means to generate power for the facility.
