Overview
The three-story academic building includes a lecture hall, historical museum, tiered classrooms, simulated nursing labs, public clinic suite, offices and private garden. It is built around a courtyard framed with a cylindrical entry atrium. In keeping with the college’s philosophy that nursing is a profession grounded in caring, the courtyard features spaces for meditation and contemplation, as well as lush landscaping and a water sculpture.
Features
The LEED Gold Certified building is equipped with carbon dioxide monitoring, indoor chemical & pollutant control, lighting controls and features low-toxicity materials and 25% recycled content. The design achieved a 30% reduction in optimum energy performance compared with the baseline performance rating. TLC designed multimedia systems that enhance the educational experience and are easy for the faculty and students to use on a daily basis.
