Overview
Under a continuing services agreement, TLC led a large, coordinated effort to develop an overarching Sustainability Action Plan for the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC). OCCC is one of the largest convention centers in the country and is committed to sustainability in their buildings, as evidenced by their Gold certification under the LEED for Operations and Maintenance program.
Features
The Sustainability Action Plan focuses on five goal categories that allow OCCC to have the greatest impact on the sustainability and health of the staff, visitors, and surrounding community. Within each recommended goal category, multiple stakeholder engagement sessions were held to determine a final set of goals that would closely reflect OCCC’s commitment to sustainability, data was collected and analyzed to create a baseline for comparison, and multi-tiered targets were recommended and approved by OCCC’s leadership. The goal categories include Accessibility & Mobility, Supply Chain & Local Foods, Waste, High-Performance Building & Infrastructure, and Human Experience.
The effort to create the final Sustainability Action Plan took over two years and TLC delivered a complete, forward-facing final product to OCCC. Moving forward, TLC is leading the implementation effort to assure that policies and procedures are put into place to support the goals identified in the Sustainability Action Plan and will continue to monitor the progress of each goal.
