This building features a state-of-the-art clean room and advanced imaging facilities that are used to facilitate discoveries in areas such as nanocomposites, smart materials, advanced energy storage and nanoscience and nanotechnology. This building is an energy-efficient innovation hub that provides a modern research and development facility for Vanderbilt University’s students and faculty.
TLC’s role as the sustainability consultant involved integrating closely with the architect, MEP engineer and University. We designed an energy model that evaluated options for site shading, façade shading and energy impacts. The model indicated a 30% costs savings over the baseline, earning 10 LEED points and contributing to the building achieving LEED-Gold certification.
