VITAS at Galloway Medical Center

Overview

The hospice facility is located near Baptist Hospital in the Galloway Medical complex, which has an office building and a 4-level garage building. The facility is located on the ground floor of the garage building and has 16 in-patient beds; and was designed to meet AHCA requirements and all the compliance stipulations. TLC served as the engineer for the shell component of the Galloway Medical complex, with the Office Building designed to be sustainable. A 400-ton cooling tower was utilized as part of the cooling plant for the medical complex to supply condenser water to the office building and the retail area on the ground floor of the garage building. The cooling plant was provided with secondary power via an emergency generator to accommodate 96 hours of run time in the case of a loss in normal power. The mechanical system is comprised of three (3) water source heat pumps to provide cooling within the facility. The facility had two (2) isolation rooms to separate occupants with any critical illness. The facility had a separate emergency generator with 96 hours of run time to back up the entire facility.
