Overview

The Wallace Creek Regimental Complex Marine Fitness Center was designed and constructed as the first LEED Platinum certified building on base. In addition to providing a wide array of facilities for exercise activities, the building serves as a FEMA 361 compliant Destructive Weather Shelter, given Camp Lejeune’s proximity to the Atlantic coast and hurricane considerations.

Features

TLC provided structural services that included tilt-up construction, while providing a durable and low maintenance structure able to withstand 170-mph wind speeds in the FEMA 361 safe zone perimeter walls. Brick cladding visually links the facility to other buildings. A roof-mounted PV array of framed flat-plate crystalline silicon was sized to provide approximately 25% of the facility’s peak demand energy needs.
