Overview

Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 is developing several facilities to help it become one of the leading comprehensive pediatric cancer treatment and teaching hospitals in the world. The project includes a new 12-story, 186-bed outpatient facility; a new 12-story academic and administration building; and a 778,100 square foot expansion of existing hospital, increasing its capacity to 550 beds and 16 operating rooms.

Features

TLC performed preliminary energy modeling to develop high-performance design measures that would minimize the potential glare and improve thermal comfort caused by the mostly glass facade. Vertical fins on the south facing windows and high-performance glazing are some of the sustainable design features that are projected to yield a 25% reduction in energy compared to the ASHRAE 90.1 baseline.
