Overview
New Smyrna Beach’s police station features high-tech security and voice-data systems as well as two backup generators for emergency power. It is structurally designed to withstand Category 4 hurricane force winds. The detention area within the one-story building includes six individual cells and one group cell, each controlled from a central command center using a computerized touch screen.

TLC engineered the structural system design to withstand hurricane force winds of up to 150 mph, the building has 8” thick tilt-up concrete wall panels and a standing seam metal roof on structural metal deck with open web steel bar joists. The electrical design includes state-of-the-art lighting with occupancy sensors, fluorescent dimming and daylight harvesting to provide the lowest possible operating budget.
