The new building provides UCF with critically needed space to enhance its research activities and to position it for large research projects and partnerships. The building houses more than 60 research/incubator labs, including a Biosafety Lab Level 2, as well as conference, meeting and informal gathering areas that encourage interaction among the multiple disciplines and tenants.
TLC provided LEED fundamental and enhanced commissioning of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and lighting control systems. To assure the safety of building occupants, TLC verified that the emergency power system would support the life safety mechanical equipment and lighting of the labs during a power outage. Fume hoods underwent a rigorous performance test, ASHRAE 110, to confirm that they safely contain and exhaust harmful or toxic fumes.
