Project list

Overview

Scott Family Hall provides a centralized home for undergraduate general and organic chemistry instruction and state-of-the-art research facilities for faculty and graduate students studying chemical biology and chemical synthesis. In addition to laboratory spaces, the five-story, 110,000-square-foot building includes offices, an entrance atrium and laboratory support spaces.

Features

In keeping with the University’s commitment to sustainability, the building is LEED Gold certified. Creative solutions, including a mechanical mezzanine, were developed to safely exhaust chemical fumes while considering energy consumption, aesthetics and noise mitigation from rooftop exhaust fans. The structural design addresses the stiffness required for operation of sensitive equipment. Exhaust system heat recovery, daylighting and occupancy sensors are some of the building’s energy-efficient features.
