As a home away from home for University of Miami alumni, the Robert and Judi Prokop Newman Alumni Center has comfortable lounges, a spacious reception area, a café, a living room, a library, office space, and state-of-the-art technology. As a USGBC LEED Gold certified building, it also leaves a light ecological footprint.
TLC designed an energy model that determined the most effective energy-saving strategies. These included sensor-operated faucets, low-flow toilets, and urinals for a projected 30% reduction in water use. The HVAC equipment employs high efficiency fans and motors. Lighting controls, occupancy sensors, dimmer switches and skylights reduce power use and energy costs.
