Overview
The police headquarters is larger and more energy-efficient than Cape Coral’s old facility, with state-of-the-art systems and much-needed space. The three-story building houses administrative offices, a conference room, holding cells, an expanded forensics lab, indoor air-conditioned kennels for the police dogs, secure entries and a sally port. It also includes the city’s 911 call center and the central station fire alarm monitoring system.
Features
Flexibility, redundancy and survivability were among TLC’s design goals. The security systems are fully integrated for intrusion detection, access control, detention, and video surveillance. The building is designed using many sustainable strategies such as demand-controlled ventilation and energy efficient lighting. When construction was complete, the move from the old building was carefully coordinated to avoid interrupting ongoing operations.
