Overview

As part of a five-year capital improvement plan, the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC), one of the largest convention centers in the United States, renovated its West Building to enhance life safety systems while providing a bright, contemporary environment. Major renovations were made to the multipurpose Tangerine Ballroom to support the increasing demands for conventions and trade shows.

Features

TLC updated the lighting design to incorporate LED fixtures, reducing lighting power density by over 50%. Audio-visual technologies, such as wireless collaboration and video conferencing, are included in the boardrooms. The Tangerine Ballroom has a wave-like display of translucent Lucite panels that are suspended from the ceiling. These panels enable exhibitors to customize the color-changing lights for a fee, providing a revenue stream source to OCCC. We also engineered the structural support system for the cantilevered outdoor terrace.
