Overview
With the pandemic came severe supply chain issues, including the shortage of semiconductors. As some businesses closed and working from home became more prevalent, the demand for electronics increased. Texas Instruments (TI) is investing $30 billion into a stateside campus of fabrication plants to provide greater control of the supply chain. The largest of the facilities is expected to be operational in 2025, with others to follow by 2030. TLC is providing telecommunications and security services for the first fabrication facility, administration building, garage, bulk gas yard, and high voltage yard.
Aligning TI’s commitment to responsible manufacturing, this facility uses a process to reduce waste and consumption of water and energy compared to the facilities producing 150-mm wafers. Designed to meet LEED Gold requirements, this greenfield project will be one of the most energy-efficient facilities in America. It is also currently the largest private sector economic investment in Texas history and will help manufacture millions of analog and embedded processing chips daily that will go into electronics everywhere.
