Overview

AdventHealth and Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute joined forces for the design and construction of the new Translational Research Institute for Metabolism and Diabetes. The goal of translational research is to form a bridge between the research lab and bedside care. This means that while AdventHealth works directly with patients, Burnham scientists are in the lab studying disease processes.

Features

The institute is as sustainable as it is cutting-edge. The LEED certified building has many energy-efficient features, including ample natural lighting to help promote a healing environment. TLC used energy modeling to determine how the team could creatively and cost effectively deliver a LEED Gold building, surpassing the original goal of Silver.
