Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago
Overview
The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago stands as a remarkable replacement for the former Children’s Memorial Hospital, ushering in a new era of pediatric care in the heart of Chicago. Designed with families and medical professionals in mind, this cutting-edge facility features an array of specialized spaces, including advanced diagnostic and treatment areas, invasive and medical imaging suites, emergency care, and both major and minor procedure platforms. Outpatient clinics ensure that children and their families receive comprehensive, accessible care, while the hospital’s thoughtful architecture fosters a welcoming, healing environment.
Rising above the city, the upper floors accommodate a modern bed tower, faculty offices, and a stunning sky lobby that offers panoramic views and a sense of openness. With a total of 288 beds, the hospital is equipped to meet diverse patient needs through specialized units such as the NICU, PICU, a cardiac care unit, research facilities, and acute care spaces. Each area is meticulously designed to support both cutting-edge medicine and the comfort of patients and their loved ones.
Bringing this vision to life required close collaboration and strategic planning throughout the construction phase. The project team expertly managed medical equipment budgeting, specification of new devices, and conscientious reuse planning for existing equipment. Efforts extended to coordinating procurement, overseeing installation, and executing relocation planning services. All of these measures were taken to ensure seamless transitions and uninterrupted care. The result is a vibrant, state-of-the-art hospital that reflects a deep commitment to excellence, innovation, and the well-being of children and families across the region.
