Overview

Broward County’s new courthouse replaces its 50-year-old, inefficient facility that had been plagued with recurring issues. The new 20-story, 714,000 square foot courthouse houses five divisions (civil, criminal, probate, juvenile and family) of the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, the second largest jurisdiction in the State of Florida serving a population of over 1.6 million residents.

Features

Designed to achieve LEED Silver certification, the building components, equipment and systems incorporate appropriate energy conservation features to provide optimal energy efficiency that are consistent with the owner’s project requirements and basis of design. As the commissioning authority, TLC provided fundamental and enhanced commissioning of the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration; lighting and lighting control; and domestic hot water generation systems.
