Overview

This phoenix-shaped building provides students and staff with a range of facilities for strength, cardio and aquatics. A 2,700 square foot strength training area, multipurpose room for group fitness and applied learning, two office spaces, a meeting room for student and faculty use and a covered outdoor climbing wall are present in the facility. Two pools can be used for recreation or lap swimming.

Features

TLC’s use of energy modeling supported the team’s goal of minimizing the building’s energy demand, resulting in a true north/south orientation. The pools use a regenerative media filtration system that reduces the required backwash/make up water by 90%, as well as significantly reducing chemical consumption. Structural systems include exposed structural roof framing, exposed architectural concrete walls and masonry construction.
