Gentle Breeze Sculpture at Cherie Buckner-Webb Park

Project list

Overview

Gentle Breeze is a large-scale interactive sculpture in downtown Boise where visitors can relax in the shade of the tree’s canopy or enjoy swinging from its three swings. Standing 23 feet tall, the structure features 748 lightweight leaves that shift and flutter with the wind, turning the sculpture into a living marker of the region’s climate and terrain. Positioned atop a gently sloping 3-foot berm, it creates a striking “tree on a hill” silhouette visible from multiple vantage points throughout the area.

Installed at Cherie Buckner Webb Park, the work invites visitors to pause, play, and reflect while taking in views of the surrounding city and mountains. Its vibrant color, inspired by local blossoms and sunset skies, sets the sculpture apart from the urban environment while remaining rooted in the character of the place. Created in collaboration with Artist Matthew Mazzotta.
