Project list

Overview

Certified LEED v2.2 NC, 2011 The expansion and renovation of Portneuf Medical Center transformed the existing cardiovascular hospital into a full-service, 187-bed medical center. The new six-story hospital has all private rooms, a new emergency department and a new women’s center. This LEED NC 2.2 certified hospital features high-efficiency heating, cooling and lighting systems and was constructed with recycled, low-emission materials.

Features

TLC provided energy modeling services that helped drive decisions affecting the building’s overall energy consumption. The resulting design provides a 14% annual energy savings compared with a similar non-LEED hospital. Sustainable design features include high-efficiency mechanical systems and equipment, low-flow plumbing fixtures that achieve a 40% water reduction and energy-efficient lighting that harvests available daylight to reduce power demand. Two water-cooled chillers and cooling towers meet the 2,140 cooling load.
