Sky Prairie at Kansas City International Airport (MCI)

Overview

Suspended above the Arrivals Roadway at Kansas City International Airport, Sky Prairie transforms arrival into a moment of wonder. Inspired by the region’s rolling hills, the installation features thousands of aluminum tubes in warm gold and orange tones that sway gently with air currents and passing traffic. Sequenced LED lighting enhances the movement with a soft glow, creating  an immersive gateway for travelers entering western Missouri. Created in collaboration with Artist Jill Anholt.
